Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination Course

Welcome aboard,

Welcome to the home page for the Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination Course (DCOIC)! DCOIC is one of five officer accession programs we operate here at Officer Training Command Newport (OTCN).

The Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination Course is the foundation for your success as a member of the Naval Officer Corps. The course is comprehensive, intense, and designed to facilitate your introduction to your responsibilities as a naval officer. The course will also introduce the newly commissioned officer to the military structure of the United States Navy, the rich history of traditions and customs, our legal system and finally, military etiquette. DCOIC is extremely demanding both physically and mentally.

The website addresses check-in procedures, lodging, messing, transportation, uniforms, and various other topics.

We look forward to your arrival. Report to the quarterdeck of King Hall (Bldg. 291) no later than1700 on the Sunday before your class convenes. The class convenes on Monday at 0445.
