Direct Commission Officer Indoctrination Course

Purpose:

DCOIC provides Reservists (Staff Corps, Restricted Line, LDOs/CWOs) with indoctrination training necessary to function in their role as newly commissioned Naval Officers. It provides a basic introduction to the fundamental aspects of leadership while providing a working knowledge of available references. DCOIC participants attend a two week course and receive specialized training to further prepare them for initial fleet assignment.

Scope:

DCO curriculum includes 90-plus hours of academic instruction, military training, and physical conditioning. The lessons include: Reserve Programs, Leadership and Management, Programs and Policies, Military Customs, Traditions, Regulations, Naval History, Naval Warfare, Fitness and Wellness Programs.
