CHRISTINE J. CASTON, COMMANDER, USN
EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Commander Christine J. Caston is the Executive Officer of Officer Training Command Newport.

Commander Caston enlisted in the Navy in 1988, attending Basic Training at Recruit Training Command, Orlando, Florida. After graduating from the Broadened Opportunity for Officer Selection and Training Program in 1989, she attended San Francisco State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree in International Relations. Her first assignment was with the Navy Upward Bound Program in San Diego.

Upon completing this duty, she reported to Sea Control Squadron 41 to serve as Assistant Line Division Officer and First Lieutenant. This tour was followed by a tour as Officer in Charge of Negishi Housing, Yokohama, Japan. In 1999, Commander Caston reported to Naval Support Activity Norfolk, Va., serving as the Combined Bachelor Housing Officer, Naval Air Station Oceana. After serving in this position for three years, she reported in 2003 as the Director of System Training to Commander, Undersea Surveillance, Virginia Beach, Va.

Commander Caston next served as the Officer In Charge of the Navy's largest Personnel Support Detachment, Naval Station Norfolk where she was integral in the initial design, manning and subsequent implementation of the Travel Processing Center, servicing the entire Hampton Roads area.  Commander Caston’s previous duty station was at Military Entrance Processing Station Honolulu where she served as Commanding Officer and the 5th Battalion Commander. 

Commander Caston has been designated as an Integrated Undersea Surveillance System Specialist and received her certification as a Senior Professional in Human Resources from the Human Resource Certification Institute. She has earned a Master of Science Degree in Management with a concentration in Human Resource Management, from Troy University and a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.  She is also certified Joint Professional Military Education Phase I and II.

Commander Caston’s military awards and decorations include the Defense Meritorious Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and various service medals and ribbons.
